Good bye

End of the annual questionnaire and the cohorte journal!

All volunteers were informed by post: after 36 years of follow-up, the Gazel team has decided to stop collecting data through annual questionnaires.

There are several reasons for this decision. Over time, we no longer observe many changes in terms of exposure to risk factors or changes in health-related behaviours (smoking, alcohol, physical activity, diet, etc.). The increasing costs of sending and processing questionnaires, in a context of budgetary constraints, also weighed heavily in this decision.

However, monitoring of the volunteers' health will continue, thanks to the matching of the cohort with the National Health Data System (SNDS), which provides data on outpatient care (medications, consultations, etc.) and hospitalisations. Researchers will therefore still be able to carry out studies based on the exceptional scientific heritage that is the cohort's 36 years of data! Occasional questionnaire requests will still be possible for specific projects.

The Cohort Journal, which accompanied the questionnaire, is also coming to an end. Information on projects and results will now be available on this website.

We would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers once again for their active participation over the years!
